How to prep for a Korean face massage
To incorporate a facial massage into your daily skincare routine,
- Start by washing your face. Indulge in a double cleanse. Start with a dime-sized amount of the Mon Cherry Dirt Dissolving Balm and massage it all over your dry face. Rinse and follow up with a water-based cleanser like the Chialeader Shine Control Gel Face Wash.
- Give your skin a boost of moisture with a hydrating essence Mama Cica Intense Oil Control Essence, which contains moisture-rich cica and lotus root extract
- Now that your skin is prepped, take a generous amount of moisturizer – we like the Mon Cherry Ultra Light Moisturizing Gel. Take more than you usually would to get that slickness needed to massage. Now you’re ready to get right to it
Try this facial massage for youthful-looking, toned look!
This massage is to improve sagginess, dullness and tighten any loose skin and give you a more defined bone structure – all great things! Start with a generous scoop of moisturizer, rub it between the palms of your hands for 30 seconds to warm it up. Pat the product onto your skin with gentle, pressing motions. The goal here is to transfer the product from your hands to your face.
Step 1: Roll your hands into fists and massage the midsection of your face in gentle, sweeping motions. Start from under your cheekbones using the knuckles and sweep it outwards towards your temples. Repeat this action for 10 times.
Step 2: Take the knuckles of your index fingers and smooth up alongside your nose towards your forehead.
Step 3: Next, move out and down the side of your face – making an outline to your face. Continue downwards towards the jaw. Keep the pressure gentle and consistent. Repeat this at least 5 times. Doing so releases any trapped fluid, reducing puffiness.
Step 4: End the massage by kneading your neck with your fists in upward motions. We tend to hold a lot of tension in this area and doing so is relaxing, plus – you get that chiseled jawline.
Tip: Using the pads of your index fingers, massage the area underneath your eyes to improve the appearance of dark circles and fine lines. Lightly press on your temples to relieve pressure.
This facial massage sculpts your jawline
Koreans are very fond of the quintessential V jaw – that traditionally depicts femininity, but we just want our jaws to be sharp AF no matter what shape they are! If you want to improve sagging and define your jawline, then this massage is for you. It promotes lymph drainage and circulation.
Step 1: If you feel right behind your ear by your jaw, you will feel a node. This node is what stores your lymphatic fluid. Massage it gently to drain it – make sure not to press too hard or it’ll freeze.
Step 2: Using your knuckles, hold them in a pincer shape. Starting from the tip of your chin, sweep your fingers upwards towards your ears.
Step 3: Now, brush your fingers down your neck and shoulders to promote drainage. Apply medium pressure.
Tip: Use your thumb to tug under your chin, and pull your fingers up along from under your jawline. End the massage with a sweeping motion across your collarbones.
That’s all! Once you are done with your massage, gently pat in any remaining product and follow up with a high SPF, broad spectrum sunscreen. If it’s night time, follow up with a sleeping mask to pamper your skin a bit more.
