10 Skincare Resolutions To Stick To In 2022
It is that time of the year where we make resolutions, only to break them later, isn’t it? Whether you’ve penned down a few yourself, or think that resolutions are passé, there is one thing we want regardless - healthy skin. So, to take you closer to your skin goals, we have dug up and made a list of 10 things that will become your textbook for achieving healthy skin this year.
1. Keep those actives in check
It is very easy to go overboard with actives. Be it AHAs that help with skin resurfacing, BHAs that offer pore-cleansing benefits or retinol which is an anti-aging miracle. When you see them working their magic on your skin, you’ll want to push the envelope. But doing this will only harm the skin’s moisture barrier and make it flare up. What you want to do is include one super-star product that has two or more active ingredients – like our hero product the Mon Cherry Ultra Light Moisturizing Gel that helps restore moisture to your skin and makes skin dewy soft. It also contains 2% niacinamide that helps even out skin tone, minimizes pores, tackles skin dullness and reduces the appearance of fine lines.

2. Be consistent to see a change
It is a lost cause if you’re not consistent with your skincare routine. If you follow it religiously for 3 days, and then go MIA for another 4, WYD?! The sweet truth here is to build a solid skincare routine that you can follow every day, without being lazy. So instead of introducing more products, look for those that can shoulder more responsibilities, like the Quench Mon Cherry Brightening Foam Cleanser. This 2-in-1 cleanser removes makeup and deep cleanses, making double cleansing an easy-peezy job. Simply take two pumps of the product and massage your face for a good 1 minute. Your face will be squeaky clean. After this, you can apply an active in a serum form, and seal the moisture with a sleeping mask.
3. Befriend skin-brightening ingredients
It is true that just 2 ingredients can change your skincare game, forever. We are not even joking when we say that retinol and vitamin C can really transform your skin. Vitamin C is a very potent antioxidant that protects your skin from free-radicals, promotes brightening and collagen production, and fades hyperpigmentation. It is great to improve skin texture and minimize discoloration. Vitamin C is best used during the day. When it comes to using retinol, we highly recommend relying on the ingredient bakuchiol - a much milder form of a plant-based retinol that minimizes pores, helps in cell turnover, diminishes signs of aging and targets dark spots and hyperpigmentation. It can also be used by people with sensitive skin, as it is non-drying, and very gentle on the skin. The Quench Bravocado Intense Brightening Serum enriched with bakuchiol, that will fight aging, correct uneven skin tone, and promote cell regeneration. Including both these ingredients take your skin to the good skin haven!

4. Go with the flow
Having a consistent skincare routine is amazing, but that does not mean you leave no space for improvisation. What we’re telling here, is that you need to listen to what your skin needs that day. Maybe it is a super humid day in winter, or a pretty cloudy day in summer, both will have some effect on your skin. Pick and choose your products of the day according to how your skin feels. If it is too tight, you might want to apply a hydrating sheet mask that leaves your skin feeling soft and supple. If it is looking dull, opt for a vitamin E product to add a radiant glow to your skin. We recommend the Quench Mon Cherry Overnight Sleeping Mask that exfoliates and renews your skin to reveal softer and smoother skin. On the other hand, if you want to tackle oiliness, then the Quench Mama Cica Pore Clearing Exfoliating Face Wash is the perfect bet. It has Korean ginseng, lotus root extract and citric acid that gently sweeps away dirt and excess oil, for a brighter and glowing skin! Don’t be afraid to experiment a bit, and simply see what your skin needs that day.
5. Stop skin product-hopping
Speaking of experiments, too much of it can cause trouble too. The skincare industry is booming, and brands want you to try their ‘skin revolutionizing’ products. Filling the beauty cabinet with skincare products does not guarantee good skin. What it does is irritate your skin, clog your pores, dry out your skin, and waste your money. Instead, keep your skincare routine minimal and effective. This allows the products to penetrate your skin better, and bring about change at the cellular level. Although for the inner skincare junkie in you, if you must buy a tempting new product, give it a month to work on your skin, and then decide whether to bin it or not.
6. Build a healthy skin barrier
For your skin to keep looking plump and soft, you need to maintain the collagen levels, by including ceramides and peptides in your routine. And not to scare you or anything, but with each passing year, the collagen tends to decrease by 1%. To boost collagen production, apart from a healthy protein-rich diet, you can incorporate ceramides in your skincare for great looking, plump and soft skin. When used in skincare, ceramides form a waterproof, protective barrier, hydrate the skin and prevent wrinkles and fine lines too. Pick our Chialeader Zit Fix Serum loaded with chia seed, bamboo and cactus water as three hero ingredients that add intense hydration to your skin while taking care of pesky dark spots, blackheads and whiteheads. This refreshing face serum has ceramide NP as a key ingredient that works to improve skin texture drastically with daily use and reinforces the natural lipid barrier of dry, dull and aging skin. Some other skin barrier repair ingredients that you should include are hyaluronic acid, shea butter, squalene, glycerin, vitamin E or any other plant-based oil like rosemary or moringa. Make sure that your beauty cabinet has at least one skin treat that has these as hero ingredients.
7. Don’t forget the neck and décolleté
We do the best we can to keep the skin glowing and fight signs of aging on our face. So much so, that we forget about the parts below our chin. The neck and the décolleté often age faster than the face. Next time when you apply your serum, moisturizer, night cream, and even SPF, give these parts the same love and care as your face. After all, you don’t want your face to glow, but your neck to sag, right?
8. Don’t skip body care
Body care is something most of us do only when we have a lot of time to spare, right? But what if we tell you that keeping up with your body’s skin health is pretty easy and hardly takes time. All you need to do is slather a good amount of body oil or a hydrating lotion right after shower, every day! The Quench Bravocado Ultra-Light Nourishing Body Cream has apricot kernel oil that improves skin radiance and vitamin E that enhances skin texture and glow. If you have body acne, or KP, opt for lotions that have pore-cleansing and exfoliating actives such as salicylic or glycolic acid. This plus a weekly session of scrubbing, will ensure that not just your face, but your body is glowing too!
9. Let your lips do the talking
Yes, you cannot skip lip care. Your lips are prone to a lot of tugging, thanks to applying and removing lipstick every day. Maintain supple, soft lips all day, every day by applying a generous layer of lip balm or lip masks before you hit the bed. These will do their job while you’re catching up with your beauty sleep. You can also apply a thick layer of petroleum jelly at night, and rub it off with a damp cloth in the morning to reveal baby soft lips. Uh oh, almost forgot! Don’t forget to scrub your lips once or twice every week. You can make your very own lip scrub at home with coconut oil/honey and fine grained sugar. Rub it on for a minute or two, and wash off for super-soft and hydrated lips.
10. You CANNOT skip sunscreen
We kept this point right at the end, because it binds together all the other skincare products. Everything that we discussed above will go for a toss, if you cut back on sunscreen. Be it your face, body and even lips, give it ample sun protection. It delays signs of aging, prevents pigmentation, stops DNA damage, avoids skin inflammation, and even reduces the risk of skin cancer. You might know these benefits already, and don’t need any convincing, but sparing 2 minutes in the morning rush to apply sunscreen will make a world of a difference. Then maybe, 20 years down the line, you’ll thank your younger self.
Hop on the bandwagon and make 2022 the year of healthy skin!
