Post-Diwali Skincare Routine For A Total Skin Detox

Post-Diwali Skincare Routine For A Total Skin Detox

So you’ve had a gleeful Diwali this year – sweet treats, oily foods and fun parties. But now, your skin looks tired and dry and irritated with all the makeup and mindless binging. Plus, the added pollution. Oof! But fret not, we’re here to offer you some genius tips that will give your skin all the post-Diwali skin detox and comfort that it needs. Lessgo!

1. Avoid makeup

You’ve gone long days wearing makeup during the Diwali festivities. Which is why, it’s best to give your skin some breathing space and altogether skip makeup for a few days. This will help your skin recover from dryness and allow the pores to refine and unclog. If you must, opt for a BB cream or a tinted moisturizer that is still quite light as compared to a full-face of makeup.

2. Indulge in anti-inflammatory skincare ingredients

Oily and sugar-y foods can trigger your skin and may even cause you to break out. Use products that contain anti-inflammatory ingredients like aloe, cica, licorice extracts, green tea, etc. These can calm any redness or irritation and re-balance your skin in no time.

Quench cleansersQuench Recommends:

Mesmerice Ultra Nourishing Cream Mask enriched with aloe

Mama Cica Rejuvenating Face Mist infused with cica extracts

Mon Cherry Intense Brightening Essence boosted with licorice root goodness

Matcha Better Pore Clearing Skin Tonic packed with green tea

3. Steam it out

Steaming your face is an effective and no-cost way to get a post-Diwali skin detox. Steaming brings out all the dirt and gunk hidden in the skin to the surface. It also helps refine pores, so if you have blackheads or acne-prone skin, then your skin will especially love steaming. Do this at least twice every week on a cleansed face. After which you can apply a hydrating moisturizer for dewy soft skin.

4. Sheet mask to the rescue

sheet maskSheet masks are like an SOS for parched and irritated skin. Drenched in a mix of botanical ingredients and actives, these can not only revive your skin but also deeply hydrate your skin. Sheet masking for just 20 minutes, 1-2 per week will blow back life into your skin. You will notice a visible difference each time you use it!

Quench Recommends:

Birch Please Sheet Mask For Instant Hydration

Mon Cherry Sheet Mask For Bright And Clear Skin

Both these sheet masks are pre-soaked in hydrating and skin-reviving ingredients for healthier and smoother skin.

5. Facial massages help too

Facial massages are so relaxing, aren’t they? Especially after a hectic week of Diwali cleaning, prepping and binging, where your skin has undergone a lot. A simple facial massage is enough to de-stress your facial muscles and unclench all the built up tension. Grab a facial oil or a moisturizer and generously apply it all over your face. Then using your fingertips or massaging tools like jade rollers or Gua Sha, slowly go over your entire face in a circular, relaxing motion. The duration depends on you, ranging from a 2-minute to a 20-minute massage. Ensure that there is enough product on your face to avoid pulling and tugging.

6. Exfoliate smartly

Your skin is at a very vulnerable stage right now. So, even though exfoliation is needed, it might be too much to take. Instead of going ahead with your weekly exfoliation session, divide it into smaller bite-sized sessions. We mean, using a *really* a mild exfoliator every day, can actually garner better results than you can imagine. It sloughs off daily debris and refines pores without being too harsh on your skin.

Quench Recommends:

Mama Cica Instabright Peel Pads

Quench Mama Cica Instabright Peel PadsThey contain 45 peel pads pre-soaked in glycolic acid, and a bunch of natural Korean ingredients like Korean ginseng, lotus root, cica and papaya extracts that keep skin smooth and dewy soft.

Use them in your PM skincare routine on a cleansed face and then without rinsing follow up with a serum and sleeping mask/moisturizer. Ensure that none of these products contain any other exfoliating active be it AHA or BHA.

7. Double cleanse, babe

Please, for the love of skincare gods, start double cleansing your face. Oil-based cleansing balms not only melt away makeup, but also hydrate and nourish your face. They contain lipids like oils and butters that replenish, hydrate and protect skin. This added step in your PM skincare routine can in fact, be a game-changer for you.

Quench Recommends:

Mon Cherry Dirt Dissolving Cleansing Balm

Quench Mon Cherry Dirt Dissolving Cleansing BalmIt contains moringa seed oil, pearl extracts, cherry blossom, grapefruit, and neem leaf extracts that can easily dissolve long-wear makeup, sunscreen and impurities for brighter, glowing skin.
