Korean Glow-Boosting Home Remedies For Bright Skin
The way K-beauty has advanced today, we’re pretty sure that whenever you hear the words skincare, you immediately think of Korean skincare. Its innovative formulations, use of rare natural ingredients and the unbeatable results have established that it is by far the best in the skincare world. But today, it’s not about all that. We won’t be discussing any new ingredient or product or texture, but real and easy Korean home remedies that have been perfected over the years and promise glass-like, bright and bouncy skin. Here unfolds some secrets…
1. Rice water
If not for Korean skincare, we would have never guessed that something that we threw away without thinking twice, was actually liquid gold. It is undoubtedly one of the best Korean home remedies for skin brightening. Korean women use rice water not only for their skin but also hair. It’s quick and practically does not require any real effort. Just soak your rice as you usually would, take out the cloudy water and let it ferment for 24 hours. You’re done! There is your very own skin elixir.
2. Green tea
You’ll definitely find this in every Korean house. They’ve been habituated to sip on green tea post meals, and even use it on their skin. It is packed with antioxidants and fiber that rejuvenates, brightens and makes skin firm. Ever wondered why Korean women never seem to age? Well now you know. Once you brew your green tea, you can dip a cotton ball in it and swipe it all over your face and neck. You can also freeze the tea bags and use it to calm an active acne or de-puff your eyes.
3. Facial massages
The world might have been a little late to the party here. Because it was when Gua Sha and Jade Rollers became a thing that people truly understood how big a deal facial massages are. But Korean women have been practicing this since time immemorial. One smart way to incorporate facial massages into your routine is to do it while applying your skincare products. Pat the product in and then massage your face in an upward direction to create a fake ‘lift’.
4. DIY face pack
Face packs are a big part of Korean home remedies. And making at-home face packs seems to be a niche concept, here in India as well as in Korea. They follow a pretty simple 3-ingredient face pack recipe. Here’s what to do: take 1 tbsp of rice flour, and mix 1 tbsp aloe gel in it. Then add some green tea and mix well to form a paste. Apply it evenly all over your face and neck and allow it to dry. Once dried, wash it off with lukewarm water. You can apply this mask 2-3 every week without any stress. It will brighten, hydrate and give your skin a visible glow!
5. The 10-second rule
This isn’t a home remedy as such, but a trick you must know. After you cleanse your face, apply your toner or essence within the next 10-seconds. This is just another way to let your skin drink more water. More water = more hydration. It’s literally a 10-second window, because post that the air will begin to dry up your skin, and we don’t want that!
6. Use a washcloth
This is the best skincare hack you are ever going to receive. Listen up. Thoroughly wash your face with warm water. Then dip a cotton face towel in warm water too, and gently rub it on your face in circular motions. This gently buffs away dead skin cells without being too harsh on the skin. You can do this 2-3 times every week post showering. Remember: be very gentle, do not over-rub your skin.
Having good skin is not always about having to use skincare products or dedicating a lot of time into DIY recipes. These quick and easy Korean home remedies for glowing skin are proof, aren’t they?
