How To Layer Skincare The K-beauty Way?

How To Layer Skincare The K-beauty Way?

Life was simpler when skincare only meant cleansing, toning, moisturizing, right? But long gone are the days when just these three products will keep up the skin’s health and cater to your skin’s needs. Today, we have a plethora of skincare products that are hyper-customized for even the most specific concerns. And even though everyone seems to have a handle on their skin these days, as a beauty editor, I’m still bombarded with questions like, what goes first? Do I need a toner? When to apply treatments? Consider this as an official handbook to answer every one of those questions. Because we’re about to go *really* deep into what layering is, and how to do it in the best. way. possible. Let’s go.

The correct way to apply skincare products in the morning

STEP 1: AM & PM - Cleanser

Quench cleansersAlways begin with a blank canvas by giving your face a very thorough cleanse. If not, then your precious skincare products will not reap you any benefits, so what’s the point? Massage your face with a deep cleansing face wash every morning for a good minute.

At night, use a cleansing balm and for the love of skincare Gods, please ditch those makeup wipes. They leave behind a lot of gunk that can irritate your skin. While a cleansing balm will seep into the pores and take out every ounce of gunk and impurities. Then follow it up with your regular water-based cleaner that you’d used in the morning.

Matcha Better Skin Detox Gel Face Wash MRP: ₹449

STEP 2: AM & PM - Toner or Pore-Refining Mist

Quench toners and mistsThis is where the routine kind of starts – from the thinnest, we move upwards towards thicker consistencies. A toner or a mist preps and primes the face to better absorb the following skincare products. Today, you’ll find toners and mists that not only refresh but also brighten, cleanse pores, and add a dewy glow to skin.

Quench Recommends:

Yuzu Fine Vitamin C Brightening Toner MRP: ₹449

Birch Please Moisturizing Face Mist MRP: ₹449

Matcha Better Pore Clearing Skin Tonic MRP: ₹699

STEP 3: AM or PM - Sheet Mask

Quench sheet masksGive your skin a mini facial at home with serum drenched sheet masks. Not only do they give your skin a much-needed re-set, but also oomph up skin’s hydration by many notches. TIP: always store your sheet masks in the fridge for that extra-cooling effect. Wrapping your face in a sheet mask once or twice a week is a quick shortcut to refreshed and brighter-looking skin. 15 minutes after leaving it on your face, massage the excess serum in, and then move on with the rest of the routine.

ONLY except the mud dipping mask, here, you will wash off the clay residue first and then progress.

STEP 4: AM & PM - Ampoules & Serum

Quench serumsA product that does a lot of heavy-lifting for your skin – serums are concentrated potions that target very specific skin concerns and improve your overall health of your skin. Think of them as shots – but for your face, they get your skin ‘drunk’ on nutrients pretty quickly. These can be runny or semi-liquid, but they’ll always go before your moisturizer.

Quench Recommends:

Mama Cica Dark Spot Correcting Ampoules MRP: ₹699

Bravocado Intense Brightening Serum MRP: ₹699

Birch Please Skin Soothing Clarifying Serum MRP: ₹699

STEP 5: AM & PM - Eye Cream

Quench eye creamsThinner than moisturizers and usually thicker than serums, the eye cream is sandwiched between these two steps. As a thumb rule, always move from the thinner to thicker consistency for optimum product absorption and penetration. So, if you feel your eye cream is thicker than your light-weight moisturizer, you can also save it for later.

Quench Recommends:

Mama Cica Dark Circle Fading Under Eye Cream MRP: ₹499

Yuzu Fine Revitalizing Under Eye Gel MRP: ₹399

STEP 6: AM & PM: Moisturizer or Sleeping Mask

Quench masksNo, you’re not allowed to skin this step, even if your skin is an oil slick, or breaks out easily. Because lack of hydration is exactly why your skin is misbehaving. Find your true moisture-match that loves your skin back, and rescues you from the dark abyss of skin issues. A moisturizer not only hydrates, but also seals in the goodness from all the previous skincare products. Pick a light-weight moisturizer for AM and follow it up with a broad-spectrum sunscreen. Use a super-nourishing sleeping mask in your PM routine.

At night, when your skin is already working hard to repair and replenish itself, a sleeping mask will give it the push it needs.

For AM:

Mon Cherry Ultra Light Moisturizing Gel MRP: ₹599

Bravocado SPF 50+ PA++++ Sunscreen Gel MRP: ₹649

For PM:
