4-Step Easy DIY At-Home Facial

Step 1: Double Cleanse

We hate to be the skincare police, but if you’re not double cleansing already, what are you really doing? Consider it an updated version of cleansing your face, where the oil-based cleanser will pull out all the hidden gunk on your face, including makeup. Then follow it up with your usual water-based cleanser to get a squeaky clean face. This is especially crucial for an at-home facial as it allows you to begin with a blank, clean canvas and helps the next products to seep in better.

Now is the time to steam your face. Among the many benefits, steaming softens your skin, opens up the pores, brightens and gives a visible glow to the skin. If you have acne-prone skin, or your skin is frequented with blackheads and whiteheads, then steaming unclogs them and allows for easy extraction. You may opt for a facial steamer or hold your face over a vessel of hot water and cover with a towel to stop the steam from escaping. Steam your face for 2-3 minutes and then you may using an extracting tool on your blackheads and whiteheads. Lastly, splash some cold water on your face.

Step 3: Exfoliate

Steaming helps bring all the gunk to the surface of the skin, and using a good exfoliator will help sweep it off from there. Based on your skin type, you may choose the best exfoliator from the below list.

Dull/Dry Skin

Dry skin is prone to dullness, and an instant pick me up for it will be our Birch Please Intense Glow Gel Mask. It is a cooling gel mask that gently exfoliates to give you brighter, softer and glowing skin. It also promotes even skin tone and hydrates skin. Yay!

As much as oily and acne-prone skin loves exfoliation, it also needs a little something extra. Enter: glycolic acid. It is a gentle AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) that sloughs off dead skin cells as well as unclogs pores, and sweeps away acne-causing bacteria. Our Mama Cica Instabright Peel Pads contains a blend of botanical Korean ingredients and glycolic acid that leaves behind softer, brighter and even toned skin. Simply sweep the peel pads on your face and neck and that’s it! No need to rinse it off.
