5 Tricks That Will Help You Deal With Your Dark Circles
Dark circles are the bane of my existence! If I stay up too late scrolling through Instagram (we've all been there, haven't we?) or have the sniffles, chances are that I'm going to look a panda - and not in a cute way. Luckily, I've figured out a few tricks that can help tackle this issue.
1. Stay hydrated
Dehydration is one of the most common causes for dark circles. Up your water intake to a minimum of 8 glasses a day to deal with the shadows under your eyes. Limit the consumption of caffeine and alcohol as they can further dehydrate your skin.
2. Keep your health in check
Certain factors such as a vitamin deficiencies, low iron levels and allergies can worsen the appearance of your under-eye circles. Nasal congestion, in particular, causes the blood vessels under your eyes to dilate, which leads to dark circles.
Smoking is another factor that can impact this issue. Not only does nicotine impact your sleep cycle but also damages the delicate skin beneath your eyes. Kick the habit to sport a well-rested look!
3. Invest in an eye cream
The right eye cream can make a world of a difference to your dark circles. For example, the Mama Cica Dark Circle Fading Under Eye Cream is packed with centella asiatica (cica) extract and orange peel oil, both of which are rich in vitamin C, and thus work to minimize the appearance of dark circles. Plus, the roller ball applicator helps massage in the formula and drain any excess fluid.
4. Adjust your sleeping posture
We all know that beauty sleep is important, but so is the position you lay in! Fluid build-up can emphasize the bags under your eyes so it's best to sleep on your back to prevent this from happening. Prop an extra pillow under your head if you deal with puffy eyes.
5. Use a cold compress
A cold compress can be so beneficial on a hot day, when you are dealing with a migraine... and if you have dark circles! Wrap a few ice cubes in a soft cloth and rest it over your eyes for 5 minutes. This will help shrink dilated blood vessels and also reduce puffiness - two factors that can cause your dark circles to pop.
If you would like to take things a step further, you can pop a sheet mask (we love the Mon Cherry Sheet Mask for Bright and Clear Skin) in the refrigerator, 20 minutes prior to using it. The cooling sensation will feel heavenly and work to depuff your under-eye bags!
